  • POLICY TITLE: IN PERSON VISITATION RE: “NO PATIENT LEFT ALONE ACT”
    REGULATION: SB98

     Pediatric patients.

    1. No healthcare facility in Florida may require a vaccine as a condition of visitation. The facility must

    allow for consensual physical contact between patients/residents. Every healthcare facility must

    allow its residents and patients to be hugged by their loved ones.

    2. Healthcare facilities must allow in-person visitation in all the following circumstances, unless

    the resident, client, or patient objects:

    3. End-of-life situations.

    4. A resident, client, or patient who was living with family before being admitted to the

    provider’s care is struggling with the change in environment and lack of in-person family

    support.

    5. The resident, client, or patient is making one or more major medical decisions.

    6. A resident, client, or patient is experiencing emotional distress or grieving the loss of a

    friend or family member who recently died.

    7. A resident, client, or patient needs cueing or encouragement to eat or drink which was

    previously provided by a family member or caregiver.

    8. A resident, client, or patient who used to talk and interact with others seldom speaking.

    9. For hospitals, childbirth, including labor and delivery.

    POLICY

     

           Screening for COVID-19 is no longer required.

    Proof of vaccination is not required.

    Global masking is not required for visitors or employees.

    The Assisted Living Facility will continue visitation for family and friends between the

    hours of 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Upon request, visiting hours will be extended for

    caregivers and out-of-town guests.

    Residents have the option to designate a visitor who is a family member, friend,

    guardian, or another individual as an essential caregiver.

    Essential caregivers are allowed in-person visitation for at least two (2) hours

    daily in addition to any other visitation.

    Essential caregivers will not provide care to residents.

    Consensual physical contact is allowed between residents and visitors.

    There is no limit to the number of visitors allowed in the facility at a time.

    There is no limit to how many hours family/friends may visit.

    The community will direct visitors to the posted procedures.

    An administrator is responsible for ensuring that staff adheres to the policies and procedures.

    PURPOSE

    1. To continue to increase resident and family social bonding

    2. To help minimize residents’ feelings of isolation and depression

    PROCEDURES

    (as per the state of Florida, mask-wearing may be optional and used at
    the discretion of the visitor and resident). During a Pandemic, the use of PPE's will be enforced.


    1. Perform hand hygiene (via hand washing or hand sanitizing)
    2. Sign in on the visitors' log
    3. Provide directives to the resident to practice universal precautions when visiting with
    family/friend
    4. After visitation residents will wash their hands
     

    INFECTION CONTROL RULES

    1. Use face covering or mask as needed

    2. Wash hands or sanitize before signing in
